Healey-Driscoll Administration Launches Program to Support Professional Cyber Training

BOSTON, Mass.– Today, at the 2024 Massachusetts Cybersecurity Forum, the Healey-Driscoll Administration and Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MassTech) announced the Alternative Cyber Career Education (ACE) Grant Program, a new initiative through MassTech’s MassCyberCenter to support cybersecurity training programs and expand job opportunities in the cyber sector.

Healey-Driscoll Administration Awards Nearly $625,000 to Salem State for Cybersecurity Training Center

SALEM, Mass. – The MassCyberCenter has awarded Salem State University $624,437 to establish and operate a cybersecurity training facility, or cyber range, on its campus. The grant is part of the state’s Security Operations Center (SOC)/Cyber Range Initiative, a program managed by MassTech’s MassCyberCenter that aims to help build a diverse generation of cybersecurity professionals through education, training, and workforce development.

Healey-Driscoll Administration Announces $1.4 Million Cyber Resiliency Program at Cybersecurity Summit

WORCESTER, Mass. –The MassCyberCenter has launched the Cyber Resilient Massachusetts Grant Program, a $1.4 million initiative to help local governments improve their cyber defenses. The program will provide municipalities with grants to fund narrowly focused cybersecurity technology upgrades identified through vulnerability assessments.

Healey-Driscoll Administration Awards $2.3 Million to CyberTrust Massachusetts to Strengthen Municipal Cybersecurity Efforts Statewide

BOSTON – Today, the Healey-Driscoll Administration announced a $2.3 million grant through the MassTech Collaborative’s MassCyberCenter to CyberTrust Massachusetts, a nonprofit dedicated to strengthening the cybersecurity ecosystem, to support cybersecurity resiliency for Massachusetts communities and help develop a talent pipeline at Massachusetts colleges and universities to encourage students to enter the field. The CyberTrust Massachusetts grant was announced at the seventh annual Massachusetts Cybersecurity Forum held at the State House today during Massachusetts Cybersecurity Month.

Healey-Driscoll Administration Announces $1.1 Million for Cyber Training Centers During Statewide Municipal Cyber Summit

WORCESTER, MASS. – Today, the Healey-Driscoll Administration kicked off Cybersecurity Month in Massachusetts with the announcement of $1,136,911 in funding to develop a new cybersecurity training center at MassBay Community College and support the existing center at Bridgewater State University. The grants are part of the state’s SOC/Range Initiative, a program managed by MassTech’s MassCyberCenter that aims to help build a diverse generation of cybersecurity professionals through education, training, and workforce development.

MassTech Welcomes John Petrozzelli to MassCyberCenter

WESTBOROUGH – The Massachusetts Technology Collaborative (MassTech), a public economic development agency for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, has hired career intelligence and cybersecurity expert John Petrozzelli as the new director of its MassCyberCenter division. Petrozzelli brings a strong background from previous roles with managed services provider Magna5’s Boston office, as well as strong cyber and defense roles with both the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the U.S. Air Force. His mix of private- and public-sector experiences aligns closely with the mission of the MassCyberCenter, which was launched in September 2017 to enhance economic opportunities for the Massachusetts cybersecurity ecosystem, to strengthen the talent pipeline, and to bolster the cyber resiliency of the Commonwealth’s public and private-sector communities.

On March 9th, the MassCyberCenter’s Resiliency Manager, Meg Speranza, presented to the METAA Cybersecurity Pre-Conference on the importance of strengthening cybersecurity posture through cyber incident response planning. Meg was joined by Susan Noyes, Acting Director of the EOTSS Office of Municipal and School Technology, and Sergeant Edward Keefe from the Massachusetts State Police/Commonwealth Fusion Center.
